Artwork & Designs
FAQs about preparing artwork for print and embroidery, permissions, approvals, and file quality.
What fonts are available for embroidery text? +
We have a wide range of embroidery fonts available through Wilcom, so you can choose from those for stitched text.
If you have a specific style in mind, send us an example and we’ll recommend the closest match.
Can I use any company logo? +
If you want to use a company logo, you will need permission to do so.
This includes brand marks, sports logos, regimental insignia, and any artwork that isn’t your own.
What if I’m using a design commercially? +
If you’re using artwork for commercial purposes (for example selling products or representing a business/brand), you must have the appropriate permission or licence to use it.
For personal use (one-off gifts or personal clothing), it’s usually fine — but the responsibility still sits with the customer to ensure the artwork can legally be used.
What artwork requirements should I follow? +
For the best results, we recommend supplying:
- PNG files at 300 DPI (high resolution, ideally with a transparent background), or
- Vector files such as AI, EPS, SVG, or PDF (these scale without any loss of quality).
What if I can only provide low-quality artwork? +
Low-quality files can affect the final finish (especially for detailed logos or small text).
We’re not responsible for quality issues caused by low-resolution artwork, but we can help.
If needed, we offer a vectorising / redraw service to rebuild your logo into a clean, usable format. Any artwork cost will be quoted clearly before we proceed.
What is the setup cost? +
Embroidery digitising: £20 + VAT. This is a one-off setup fee for that logo in that size.
If the same logo is used on items like beanies or caps, it may need to be digitised differently due to stitch type and density.
DTF printing: there is no setup fee.
If we need to remake your logo due to quality issues, any artwork charge would be quoted case-by-case and confirmed with you before we proceed.
Will I receive a proof before production? +
Yes — you will receive a proof for approval either during the quote stage, or once your order is confirmed.
Please note: we don’t provide physical print samples as standard. Print samples are only supplied where a setup fee has been agreed and paid.
Which embroidery threads do you use? +
For black and white embroidery we use Madeira Classic threads.
For coloured embroidery we use Ackermann Isacord, offering a palette of 423 colours to help match your branding.
We also have flame-retardant embroidery threads available where specific safety or compliance requirements apply.
